What Makes Us Stand Out?
In recent decades, there has been an alarming collapse of eduction into secularization and intellectual vice--trends which have even infiltrated private and Christian schools. Under the guise of compassion, love, and open-mindedness, a culture of secularism and anti-intellectualism has served to undermine our rich Christian intellectual heritage, leading to a mass exodus of young people from the church after high school graduation.
Veritas offers a distinctly different approach - an unapologetically Christian education that does not simply integrate faith and reason as if they were somehow separate. Rather, we emphasize the continuity of faith and reason, because the two are inherently linked.
Absolute and universal truth exists. It is found in both of God's books—in his word and in his world—and we aim to train students to discover it. Rightly interpreted, God's books never contradict one another as they both have God as their author. Our goal is to equip students to think critically, discern truth, and engage culture in a way that presents the unity and harmony of revelation.
As a hybrid school, Veritas combines the best aspects of private education and homeschooling. Students benefit from professional instruction in a classroom setting while still giving students time at home for individualized learning, family discipleship, and the flexibility to pursue extracurricular interests. This model reinforces parents as their children's primary God-ordained educators and spiritual stewards.
Veritas employs a classical approach to education, built upon the best aspects of our Western and Christian intellectual tradition. This includes a rigorous study of the foundational critical thinking and communication subjects: grammar, logic, and rhetoric. In addition to intense studies in math and science, we also thoroughly study classical history, literature, theology, and apologetics. Throughout Western history, classical education has effectively cultivated wisdom, virtue, and eloquence—the marks of mature Christian scholarship and leadership.
While many schools continue to lower their academic standards, Veritas maintains high expectations for educational excellence. Guided by teachers who are experts in their field and committed followers of Christ, students engage with challenging content and the great conversations of Western civilization. We aim to cultivate intellectual curiosity, a strong work ethic, and a lifelong love of learning.
At the heart of Veritas is a vibrant Christian community where students are known, loved, and challenged to grow. Smaller class sizes allow for mentoring relationships between teachers and students. Families also partner together in the education and discipleship of their children. Through chapel, projects, and discipleship, students are consistently pointed toward Christ and encouraged to live out what they know and believe to be true. That is, we encourage and require our students to act consistently with what is True, Good, and Beautiful.
The fruits of a Veritas education are already evident in our alumni. Graduates leave our school firmly grounded in their faith, academically prepared for collegiate success, and equipped to serve and lead with integrity. By His grace, they are fulfilling God's command to be salt and light in any context God calls them.
While no school is perfect, we believe Veritas offers a compelling vision for education that is urgently needed today. If you are a Christian parent looking for a gospel-centered, academically rigorous education for your child, we invite you to learn more about the Veritas distinctives. Our prayer is that this rising generation will cast off the temptation to intellectual malaise, grow in their knowledge of God, and thereby grow in their love of God.
Soli Deo Gloria.
